McDonald’s partners with Genshin Impact for app-exclusive promotion offering rewards and menu items
McDonald’s has announced a collaboration with the popular anime-inspired video game Genshin Impact, launching an app-exclusive promotion starting September 17, 2024. The partnership offers special in-game rewards and limited-edition menu items for fans of the game. Customers who purchase the Genshin Impact Apple Pie through the McDonald’s app will receive in-game rewards such as 40 Primogems, three exclusive Golden Apple Pastries, and a recipe for the “Golden Apple Pastry” to enhance gameplay in the fantasy world of Teyvat.
Additionally, McDonald’s is offering the Genshin Impact Deluxe McCrispy Meal, which includes a Deluxe McCrispy chicken sandwich, fries, the limited-edition apple pie, and a drink. Purchasing this meal unlocks exclusive in-game items like the “Wings of Delicacies” Wind Glider and the “Celebration: Crispy and Sweet” Namecard for players to use within the game.
This collaboration follows McDonald’s recent partnership with the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen, which featured new sauce flavors and packaging. The chain’s latest promotion aims to boost mobile app engagement, with a goal of reaching 250 million active loyalty members by 2027, up from the current 150 million.
Genshin Impact, created by HoYoverse, has been downloaded nearly 140 million times since its launch in 2020 and has about 10 million daily users, according to esports.com. McDonald’s has redesigned its social media channels to resemble Teyvat, the fantasy world from the game, as part of the promotion.
