Taylor Swift has officially endorsed Kamala Harris for the upcoming presidential election.

The pop star voiced her support following Harris's debate performance against Donald Trump. On Instagram, Swift stated that Harris “fights for the rights and causes I believe.”

She emphasised the importance of researching candidates’ policies and expressed her decision to vote for Harris and Tim Walz in 2024.

Swift praised Harris as a “steady-handed, gifted leader” and highlighted Walz’s advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights and women’s autonomy. She encouraged her followers to do their own research and make informed choices.

In a pointed remark aimed at Trump’s running mate JD Vance, Swift concluded her post with, “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady,” while holding her cat, Benjamin Button.

This jab comes amid Trump’s recent debate statements involving unfounded claims about Haitian immigrants and pets.

Swift also addressed misinformation, referencing recent AI-generated images falsely depicting her endorsement of Trump. She stressed the need for transparency and truth in combating false narratives.

Previously, Swift endorsed Joe Biden in 2020 and has shown support for Harris. Her fans’ tradition of making friendship bracelets has been adopted by the Harris-Walz campaign. Beyoncé, another major pop icon, has also supported Harris by allowing her song “Freedom” to be used in the Democratic campaign.

Despite speculation, neither Swift nor Beyoncé appeared at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago last month.
