Halle Berry 'eternally miffed' to remain only Black Best Actress Oscar winner

Despite her disappointment, Berry continues to work actively in the film industry.

Halle Berry, the first and only Black woman to win the Academy Award for Best Actress, expresses her deep disappointment that no other Black actress has received the same recognition in the 22 years since her historic win for "Monster's Ball" in 2002.

In a recent interview Marie Claire., Berry shared her frustration, stating she's "eternally miffed" and "continually saddened" by the lack of progress. She emphasizes that this isn't due to a lack of deserving performances, citing Oscar-nominated actresses like Andra Day and Viola Davis as examples.

Berry's win, while a personal triumph, hasn't led to the increased opportunities for Black actresses that she had hoped for. She questions whether her historic win was truly significant or merely an isolated incident.

This sentiment echoes Berry's comments at Cannes Lion in 2016, where she expressed that her Oscar win "meant nothing" in the face of the ongoing lack of diversity in Hollywood.

Despite her disappointment, Berry continues to work actively in the film industry. Her recent projects include Netflix's "The Union" and the upcoming horror film "Never Let Go."
