We are not down and out: Dhoni
Dhoni insists India will not give up despite three-wicket loss to England.
LONDON:
India captain MS Dhoni insists his beleaguered side will not throw in the towel in their last two One-Day Internationals against England after suffering a three-wicket defeat to hand the hosts a 2-0 lead.
Dhoni is adamant his wards will keep fighting despite losing out again in a close game.
“The boys are still very excited,” he said. “Whenever they turn up they want to give 100 per cent so we’re not down and out.”
England captain Alastair Cook was delighted at the way Ravi Bopara, drafted in after Eoin Morgan was ruled out, responded to the challenge of steering the run chase .
“The biggest positive is way we handled pressure,” he said. “Credit to Ravi for the way he played. It’s gutting that Eoin will miss cricket but it gives an opportunity for someone to nail down a spot, like Ravi did today. “
India recovered from 58 for five to post 234 for seven thanks to Ravindra Jadeja (78) and Dhoni (69). But their hopes were dashed by Craig Kieswetter, who scored 51 before Bopara’s 40 saw them reach the Duckworth-Lewis target of 218.
