Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, 72, underwent emergency heart surgery on Monday after being rushed from Rikers Island jail to Bellevue Hospital in New York City. Weinstein's representatives confirmed the surgery to Fox News Digital, stating it was necessary to address fluid build-up around his heart and lungs.

This health crisis comes as Weinstein awaits a retrial on rape charges, following the overturning of his 2020 conviction. The new trial is tentatively set for November 12.

Weinstein's health has been a recurring concern. In late July, he was hospitalized with double pneumonia and COVID-19. His representatives have previously disclosed his ongoing struggles with various medical conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and spinal stenosis.

The former film mogul's legal battles continue as he faces a new trial after his previous conviction was overturned due to procedural errors. Weinstein has consistently denied all allegations of non-consensual sex.
