Modern training centre to be set up for LEA personnel

KARACHI:

A meeting, chaired by Inspector General of Sindh Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, decided to establish the Securities and Emergency Training Institute. The IG said that keeping in view the demand and prevailing circumstances, it is essential to impart modern training to the Sindh Police personnel. He also emphasised the need for additional training institutions along with an increase in manpower for the Sindh Police.

The meeting, held at the Central Police Office regarding reforms and capacity building in the Securities and Emergency Services Division of the Sindh Police, was attended by the Additional IG Karachi, DIGs, Establishment, Training, Securities and Emergency Services Division, Commandant SSU, Razaqabad Police Training College and other officials.

It was decided to establish a Securities and Emergency Training Institute in Malir Chaukandi area of Karachi. Special courses on anti-terrorism, intelligence, bomb disposal, rescue and other services will be conducted at the training institute.

The meeting participants were given a detailed briefing by DIG Securities and Emergency Services Division regarding the establishment, objectives, and purposes of the institute. A list of essential equipment, weapons, and training tools for the institute is being prepared. The institute will also seek the expertise of training specialists from both national and international forces.

The IG Sindh said that the law enforcement personnel from across the country will receive training at Sindh Police's primary training centres. The establishment of a specialised training institute is essential to tackle the threats of terrorism and the evolving methods and challenges of crime.
