President Zardari urges political unity, rejects divisive politics

Hosts dinner at President's House in honour of members of various political parties

President Asif Ali Zardari has called for an end to confrontational politics that harm the nation, stressing the need for political unity to address the country's challenges.

During a dinner hosted at the President's House in honour of members of various political parties, attendees included Senate Chairman, the governors of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan's chief minister. Other prominent figures such as Awami National Party (ANP) President and Senator Aimal Wali Khan, Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain, former caretaker Prime Minister and Senator Anwaarul Haq Kakar, and Istehkam Pakistan Party (IPP) President Abdul Aleem Khan also attended.

In his remarks, President Zardari emphasised the importance of strengthening parliamentary democracy and fostering political stability. "Political unity is crucial to overcoming the political, economic, and security challenges facing the country," he said.

He urged the promotion of tolerance and mutual respect, and stressed the need for political, economic, and governance reforms to improve service delivery and achieve economic prosperity.

"We must work with determination, putting aside group interests for the public good," President Zardari added, reiterating his opposition to politics that damage the country.

Members of parliament present at the dinner offered suggestions for achieving stability and public relief, commending the president’s political wisdom and vision in seeking consensus on national issues.
