Apple iPhone 16 launch today: Apple Inc. will host its 'Glowtime' event on September 9, where the tech giant is anticipated to unveil the iPhone 16 series and the Apple Watch Series 10.

Along with hardware announcements, Apple is expected to announce release dates for upcoming software updates. These include iOS 18, iPadOS 18, tvOS 18, watchOS 11, visionOS 2, and macOS Sequoia.

Here are all the essential details you need to know — including iPhone 16 specifications, event timing, and where to watch it live.

The event will take place at Apple Park, California, USA, at 10 AM PT (10:30 PM IST), and will be streamed live on Apple’s official website and YouTube channel for a worldwide audience.

Which smartphones? The iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

However, while Apple has been characteristically quiet about the upcoming iPhones, leaks and rumours have revealed most of the expected details about the devices to be launched.

The iPhone 16 series is set to be the main focus of today’s event, with upgrades anticipated across the board. One of the most significant updates could be the inclusion of Apple Intelligence, which is expected to be the standout feature of these new iPhones. Apple’s iPhone 16 series will mark its entry into the AI smartphone market, competing with Google and Samsung.

Besides software improvements, major hardware upgrades are anticipated. All models in the iPhone 16 lineup are expected to be powered by the new A18 chip, with different configurations for the Pro and base models.

To further distinguish between the Pro and base models, Apple is likely to replace the Mute switch on the standard and Plus versions with a capacitive Action Button. Additionally, a new "Capture Button," a dedicated camera control, is expected to be available across all models. This button will allow users to manage camera functions via touch gestures.

Both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models are expected to have the same camera system this year. Unlike last year, when the Pro Max had an enhanced telephoto camera, the iPhone 16 Pro will now also feature a 5x zoom periscopic telephoto lens.

Design changes for the iPhone 16 Pro series are expected to be subtle, with a new Bronze Titanium colour option. Meanwhile, the base iPhone 16 models are likely to shift their rear camera arrangement from diagonal to vertical.
