DJ Akademiks accuses JAY-Z of favoritism after Kendrick Lamar named Super Bowl Halftime headliner

DJ Akademiks is making waves online after the NFL and Roc Nation announced that Kendrick Lamar will headline Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The controversial media personality has been vocal about his disapproval, accusing JAY-Z of positioning Lamar to strike a final blow in the longstanding tension between him and Drake.
When explaining the decision to place Lamar at the forefront of the Super Bowl Halftime Show, JAY-Z praised the Compton rapper’s influence.
“His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick's work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come," JAY-Z stated.
He also called Lamar a "once-in-a-generation" artist, cementing his place in music history.
Despite the glowing endorsement, DJ Akademiks took to social media to voice his frustration.
In one of his first posts, he lashed out, saying, "The NFL just gave Kendrick Lamar a global 'Pop Out' show… Jay Z I see u n***a… u ain’t low…," referencing Lamar’s previous event, "The Pop Out."
The media figure continued his rant, pointing fingers at Roc Nation’s involvement in the Super Bowl Halftime Show’s curation.
"Jay Z and Roc Nation [are] responsible for curating the Super Bowl half time show… remember that," Akademiks wrote, suggesting that JAY-Z’s choice of Lamar over other hip-hop heavyweights, such as Drake, was calculated.
In yet another post, Akademiks further stoked the flames of tension by quoting Drake and J. Cole's lyric from their song, “Big As the What.. Big As the Super Bowl.”
He added, "And Jay Z just made Kendrick Lamar the headliner of the Super Bowl. Nah n***a dis sh*t is wild … this sh*t crazy."
Akademiks then hinted at a deeper layer to the situation, implying that JAY-Z has not forgotten Drake’s 2015 track “Charged Up,” which included subtle jabs at the rap mogul.
"Jay Z set up the play. Drake … jay ain’t forget bout that charged up verse n***a. He the higher ups."
While it's unclear if any current animosity exists between Drake and JAY-Z, Akademiks is clearly looking to reignite old feuds.
This isn't the first time Akademiks has taken a personal approach to defending Drake.
His loyalty to the Canadian rap superstar has been well-documented, often turning battles into more intense public debates. As of now, neither Drake nor JAY-Z has commented on the situation.
Kendrick Lamar, meanwhile, has kept a low profile about the upcoming Super Bowl, only teasing his performance in a commercial where he quipped, “You know you only get one chance to win the championship, right? Ain’t no round twos.”
Fans speculated that this was a subtle dig at Drake’s recent Instagram post where he said he was ready for "Game Two."
Whether these cryptic messages lead to further drama remains to be seen, but for now, Akademiks has made his stance on the Super Bowl headliner crystal clear.
