Naomi Watts reveals Nicole Kidman checked in before working with ex Liev Schreiber on Netflix series

Naomi Watts shared that her best friend, Nicole Kidman, reached out to her before starring alongside her ex-partner Liev Schreiber in the upcoming Netflix series The Perfect Couple. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly (EW) during the Toronto International Film Festival, Watts explained that Kidman’s gesture was thoughtful and appreciated.

"We always check in, we're besties," Watts told EW, noting that her longtime friendship with Kidman meant that they maintain open communication, even when it involves personal connections. "That was very kind of her to do that," Watts added.

Watts and Schreiber were in a relationship for 11 years before their split in 2016, and they continue to co-parent their two children. Kidman, who has been friends with Watts for decades, took the opportunity to make sure everything was comfortable before portraying Schreiber’s on-screen wife in the Netflix thriller.

Watts also promoted her own new film, The Friend, at the festival. In the film, Watts portrays a woman navigating complex emotions within close relationships, drawing an interesting parallel to her real-life friendships and her ongoing connection with her ex-partner.
