200,000 apply for 12,500 police constable positions in Karachi
Over 200,000 aspiring young individuals submitted applications for the recruitment of nearly 12,500 police constables in the Sindh Police Department, with 75,172 candidates successfully passing the physical fitness test.
A total of 21,062 eligible candidates took the written test at Federal Urdu University, conducted over four shifts on Saturday and Sunday.
The written test was administered by Sukkur IBA Testing Services and Sindh Testing Service (STS) test under the supervision of Sindh Police officials.
In charge of the STS's Karachi centre Dr. Pervaiz Memon said examination centres were set up in five regions of Sindh - Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Sukkur, and Larkana - where the written test was conducted simultaneously.
In Karachi, 21,062 candidates appeared, in Hyderabad 19,410, in Shaheed Benazirabad 10,310, in Sukkur 13,679, and in Larkana 10,711 candidates took the written test.
He mentioned that due to unemployment, many young people showed a great interest in securing jobs in the police department, resulting in a 96 per cent test attendance.
The Vice Chancellor of Sukkur IBA University and CEO of STS, Professor Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh, visited various examination centres and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements.
He emphasised that merit and transparency are their hallmark, and every effort will be made to ensure merit.
Young candidates taking the written test expressed their desire to serve citizens with dedication through a career in the police department and their commitment to play a significant role in eliminating crime from the city.
However, the written test at Federal Urdu University affected the traffic flow on University Road, causing difficulties for citizens traveling on that route.
