PCB to evaluate leadership roles ahead of Australia tour in key meeting

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a high-level meeting and workshop, dubbed the "Connection Camp," to plan the future of Pakistan cricket.

The event is scheduled for September 22 and will be chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

The meeting will bring together a range of key figures, including red and white-ball head coaches Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten.

Attendees will also include the heads of the international, domestic, and high-performance departments, as well as senior cricketers, coaches, and PCB officials.

The "Connection Camp" will focus on future decisions based on the input gathered during the workshop. One of the main topics of discussion is expected to be potential changes in the team’s leadership.

The current leadership structure, including the roles of white-ball captain Babar Azam and Test captain Shan Masood, is under review.

Babar Azam's position as the white-ball captain has been brought into question following his exclusion from the Champions One-Day Cup captaincy.

This development suggests that he may be replaced ahead of Pakistan's upcoming tour of Australia, where the team will play three T20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals.

Gary Kirsten, who returned to his home country after submitting a report in July, has previously discussed captaincy matters with PCB officials.

Mohammad Rizwan’s name has been mentioned as a potential new captain for all three formats, and his candidacy will be considered during the meeting.

The PCB aims to use the feedback from the "Connection Camp" to make informed decisions about the future direction of Pakistan cricket and leadership roles within the team.
