Sindh Health Minister and Pro-Chancellor of Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, underscored the urgent need to establish the Sindh Nursing Council and a Sindh Health Research Institute to bolster healthcare services and research in the province.

She made these remarks while addressing the sixth Senate meeting of JSMU. "We must prioritize the establishment of the Sindh Health Research Institute, focusing on health and allied health sciences," said Dr Pechuho.

"Researchers at this institute will collect data from Karachi's tertiary hospitals to conduct studies that will inform policy decisions." She also announced plans to create an Institute of Allied Health Sciences.

JSMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Amjad Siraj Memon, echoed her sentiments, announcing the university's plans to establish a Faculty of Allied Health Sciences and appoint a Dean to oversee its operations. He also highlighted JSMU's recent introduction of PhD programs in Dental, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, and Public Health, aimed at promoting research excellence.
