Karsaz accident accused granted bail

Decision on bail plea reserved in narcotics-related case

KARACHI:

The Additional District and Sessions Judge East has granted bail to the accused in a car accident case but reserved the decision on bail in the narcotics-related case. In the car accident case, the court heard bail plea and received a no-objection certificate from the heirs of the deceased, Imran Arif who died in the accident.

The certificate, submitted by Imran Arif's wife, Rumana Imran, and children, Osama Arif and Umaima, stated that they had settled the matter with the accused and forgiven her for the sake of Allah. They confirmed that the accident was not deliberate and that their decision was made without any pressure.

The court granted bail to the accused against a bond of Rs100,000 and extended the interim bail of the husband of the accused.

Defence lawyer Amir Masoob Qureshi mentioned that the settlement between the parties involved forgiveness for the sake of Allah. He mentioned, he has no information if any compensation has been paid.

Methamphetamine was detected in the urine of the accused, but it was not found in her blood.

Qureshi noted, if bail is granted, the accused could travel abroad, as there were no restrictions imposed by the court. He pointed out that the punishment under Section 11 is three years and they plan to challenge the medical report, emphasising that this is the only case of its kind because methamphetamine was only found in the urine, not in the blood.
