11,000 cattle allotted to widows

Provincial Minister for Livestock and Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani chaired a meeting in the Livestock Department in which the progress of the initiatives of the Chief Minister of Punjab for the development of the Livestock Department was reviewed.

Secretary Livestock Punjab Saqib Ali Ateel gave a detailed briefing on the current status of these initiatives.

Provincial Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Punjab Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani while addressing the meeting said that Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has allocated funds of Rs17 billion for the development of the livestock sector for the first time in history.

A new era of development and prosperity will begin. The provincial Livestock Minister directed to ensure the timeline of these projects in every way.

He said that 11,000 cows and buffaloes worth Rs2 billion will be distributed free of cost to the poor widows and divorced women of 12 districts of South Punjab. All the animals will be tagged and disease-free.

The provincial minister said the scheme has been started with the personal interest of the Chief Minister Punjab adding that any kind of lapse in the success of this program will not be tolerated.

He emphasised the need for the Livestock Department to form teams and groups for the physical verification of eligible women in all the centres of South Punjab.

The provincial minister further said an advertising campaign should be ensured through TVC on South Punjab TV channels.
