WATCH: Peshawar hosts air show and military equipment display for Defence Day

A military air show and weapon demonstrations were the highlights of Defence Day celebrations in Peshawar.

RAWALPINDI:

Peshawar hosted an impressive air show and military equipment exhibition, highlighting Pakistan's military prowess in celebration of Defence and Martyrs Day.

The event was inaugurated by Lieutenant General Umar Ahmed Bukhari, Corps Commander Peshawar, and showcased a range of military hardware used by the Pakistan Army.

The exhibition featured equipment from the infantry, engineers, signals, air defence, and artillery divisions of the armed forces.

Spectators witnessed practical demonstrations, including artillery fire, infantry assaults, mine and fence clearance operations, and anti-terrorism drills.

Army Aviation units performed aerial displays, with Cobra gunships, MI-17 helicopters, and Mushak aircraft impressing the crowd.

The event also included live demonstrations of mixed martial arts, showcasing the physical strength and combat readiness of the military personnel.

This Defence Day event emphasised Pakistan’s military capabilities and paid tribute to the sacrifices of the nation's martyrs, strengthening the bond between the armed forces and the public.

Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, in his special message for Defence Day, said September 6 holds great significance in Pakistan's national and military history as a symbol of the country's defence.

General Asim highlighted that, on this day, Pakistan’s army, navy, and air force, alongside the nation, thwarted the ambitions of a much larger enemy.

The unity and determination demonstrated during the 1965 war remain a proud legacy for both the armed forces and the country.

Special prayers were held in mosques for the country's progress and prosperity, as well as for the liberation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
