Halsey has officially released her latest single, "Ego," giving fans another taste of her forthcoming album, The Great Impersonator.

The song dropped on Friday (Sept. 6) and is the fourth track revealed from the highly anticipated album, which is scheduled to be released on Oct. 25.

The '90s-inspired track was first teased during Halsey’s live performance at KOKO in London on Aug. 14.

Speaking to the audience at the show, Halsey revealed, “I’ve been teasing a new song for the past couple of days. You guys are the first people in the world to hear it… lowkey even before some of the people who work at the label.”

“Ego” continues Halsey’s exploration of musical eras and themes, with the artist delving into personal reflection. In a snippet shared online before the release, she sings, “I think that I should try to kill my ego/ ‘Cause if I don’t, my ego might kill me.”

Halsey has described The Great Impersonator as an intensely personal project, stating, “I made this record in the space between life and death, and it feels like I’ve waited an eternity for you to have it.”

Ahead of the album’s release, Halsey also launched a global scavenger hunt, with fans discovering time capsules worldwide, each revealing different variant covers of the album. The Great Impersonator will be Halsey’s fifth studio album, following 2021’s If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
