Gillian Anderson's book Want reveals anonymous female fantasies, including one with Harry Styles.
Gillian Anderson’s new book Want features 174 anonymous letters from women around the world, revealing their deepest sexual fantasies. Speaking to the BBC, Anderson, 56, shared that one submission describes “very hot, sensual, passionate sex” with singer Harry Styles. The actress, known for her sex-positive role in Sex Education, said she feels “very comfortable” discussing intimacy.
Inspired by Nancy Friday’s 1973 book My Secret Garden, Anderson’s compilation explores a wide range of desires. One fantasy submitted to the book involves intimacy in a church, influenced by religious restrictions. Other fantasies touch on voyeurism and encounters with strangers. Anderson encouraged contributors to be open and honest, categorizing the submissions into themes such as “Power and Submission” and “Exploration.”
Anderson herself also added a personal fantasy to the collection, though she admitted it was challenging to express in writing. She shared with The Guardian that the process brought an unexpected level of intimacy, revealing: “I wouldn’t have expected myself to be so shy around it.” Anderson explained that the project aims to promote self-acceptance, noting that many women struggle to differentiate their true desires from those imposed by societal expectations or the porn industry.
