Turkiye has provided 53,700 packages of humanitarian aid, including food, hygiene kits, medicine, and shelter materials, to support those affected by recent severe flooding in Bangladesh.

The announcement was made by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya on Thursday.

Yerlikaya highlighted Turkiye’s commitment to assisting global friends and allies, noting Bangladesh as a country Türkiye regards as both "a friend and brother."

The flooding, which has impacted approximately six million people, has led to extensive efforts by Turkish aid organisations such as the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay), and the National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE).

These organisations have been actively providing relief in the affected areas.

In August, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan confirmed Türkiye's aid response to the crisis, which has claimed at least 27 lives. Erdoğan expressed Turkiye’s solidarity with Bangladesh and extended condolences to the victims' families.

He emphasised Turkiye’s commitment to helping Bangladesh through this challenging period and spoke with Muhammad Yunus, head of Bangladesh’s interim government, to discuss the situation and reinforce Turkiye’s support.

Erdoğan reiterated that Turkiye will continue to stand by Bangladesh, aiming to support the country in its recovery efforts and mitigate the impacts of the disaster.
