Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen will star as JonBenét Ramsey's parents in a new limited series on Paramount+. McCarthy will play Patsy Ramsey, while Owen will take on the role of John Ramsey. The show will explore the murder of six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey, whose body was found in the family’s basement hours after being reported missing on Christmas in 1996. According to an official description, the series will focus on the Ramsey family’s grief, media scrutiny, and the couple’s complex relationship as they navigate the aftermath of their daughter’s death.

Paramount Global Co-CEO Chris McCarthy described the casting as a “duo to delve into this tragic story that has cast a long, haunting shadow over American culture." Jeff Grossman, Executive Vice President of Programming for Paramount+, added, “JonBenét Ramsey continues to be one of the country’s most fascinating unsolved murders,” emphasizing the talent involved in the project.

Richard LaGravenese will serve as showrunner and executive producer, alongside writers Harrison Query and Tommy Wallach. Executive producer Anne Sewitsky will direct four of the eight episodes. The project is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, with McCarthy also serving as an executive producer.

The case remains one of the most captivating unsolved murders in American history, generating significant media attention over the past three decades.
