Pesticide exposure kills two siblings

The remaining siblings-were rushed to Karachi for medical treatment after falling unconscious.

HYDERABAD:

Two young siblings tragically lost their lives, and several others were left unconscious after consuming food contaminated with pesticide in Sehwan, Jamshoro district, on Thursday.

According to police reports, three-year-old Sitabi Channa died shortly after eating food at her family's home in Khosa Mohalla, while four-year-old Shahzaman passed away at the Syed Abdullah Shah Institute of Medical Sciences. The institute's director, Moinuddin Siddiqui, revealed that the family had been dining on a table where they had earlier placed wheat treated with the pesticide ammonium phosphate. The pesticide likely transferred to their hands and utensils, leading to contamination of the food.

Dr. Siddiqui also noted that a similar incident had occurred previously in the same area, where a woman and her daughter had died under similar circumstances.
