Keith Urban recently made headlines after comparing Miley Cyrus’s voice to “an ashtray” during an appearance on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie. The 56-year-old country star, while praising Cyrus’s talent, remarked, "I love that voice... she sounds like an ashtray. And I mean that as a compliment." He added humorously, "She sounds like the carpet at the RSL!"

Urban also expressed frustration with artists who exploit country music for authenticity without respecting the genre. "A lot of people are sick of the BS with a lot of artists... what’s real and what isn’t," Urban said, referencing the Nashville music industry and applauding artists like Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen for staying true to the roots of country music.

The comments come as Urban continues his world tour and promotes his music. His light-hearted comparison of Cyrus, known for her distinct husky voice, has sparked conversation, but Urban maintained his admiration for the Flowers singer’s talent and unique sound.
