TV show with worst finale revealed: It's not Game of Thrones or How I Met Your Mother
A new study has identified the worst TV show finales in history, and the findings are quite surprising.
A list put together by Bo McCready compares the average ratings of each episode with the finale ratings on IMDB, and shockingly, Game of Thrones and How I Met Your Mother aren't at the top, though they both made the top 10.
Topping the list is House of Cards, which saw the largest decline in ratings due to its controversial conclusion.
The Promised Neverland took second place, with Game of Thrones, Killing Eve, and Dexter rounding out the top five.
The final season of House of Cards suffered after the sudden departure of its lead actor Kevin Spacey, following allegations of sexual misconduct.
Viewers were left dissatisfied as the once-popular political drama stumbled toward its final episode without Spacey.
The finale, which aired on November 2, 2018, received a shockingly low rating of 2.6 out of 10 on IMDB, marking a significant 55 percent drop from its average episode rating of 8.1.
In the ending, Doug Stamper, a political aide, confesses to Claire Hale, now president, that he poisoned her husband Frank Underwood (formerly played by Spacey) to stop him from killing her. Claire then kills Doug by stabbing him.
One frustrated fan took to Reddit, saying, "What an absolutely terrible ending. I would rather watch David Attenborough narrate paint dry."
In its scathing review, Vox criticized the finale, stating that House of Cards' "dismal ending proves it never had anything to say," adding that the final season was the worst part of the entire Netflix series.
