Controversial artist and designer Nusi Quero, born Paul Giese-Garonzik, passed away at the age of 36 on Tuesday, September 3rd.

While an official statement from his agency has yet to be released, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s report lists ligature hanging as the cause of death, leading to speculation of suicide.

Originally from Florida, Quero's artistic journey began with playing in bands and doing graffiti, eventually transitioning into fashion and digital design. He became known for creating futuristic 3D-printed couture pieces, working with stars like Beyoncé and Grimes.

Quero's artistic contributions included designing Beyoncé’s 3D-printed bodysuit for her ‘Renaissance’ album cover and collaborating with Grimes on her full-back tattoo in 2021. His work, blending digital and physical realms, earned him a reputation for pushing boundaries in fashion.

In a 2021 interview with Vogue magazine, Quero described his work as being "outside of any relationship – aesthetically or symbolically – to the present culture," explaining how his designs evolved from digital sculptures to physical, futuristic pieces.

Following his death, tributes poured in from collaborators and friends. Model Lia shared a photo of Quero on Instagram, calling him an "amazing artist" whose work "inspired so many."

Model Silky Babi expressed her grief on X, writing, "You will be forever missed."

You will be forever missed, you were the sweetest most caring person in my life that I've met and I am so thankful to have had you as a friend. I love you @nusi_quero

Despite his innovative artistry, Quero’s career was tarnished by allegations of sexual misconduct from multiple models. After issuing a partial apology, he withdrew from social media, later returning without addressing the controversies.
