Wasim Akram 'embarrassed' over Pakistan's first-ever Test series loss to Bangladesh

"We are losing consistently on home turf, and that says a lot about the quality of our cricket"

Reacting to Pakistan's disappointing Test series loss against Bangladesh, former Pakistan cricket legend Wasim Akram expressed his frustration and embarrassment.

Earlier this week, Bangladesh achieved a historic 2-0 series sweep with a six-wicket victory in the second Test held in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, compounding Pakistan's winless streak in ten consecutive home Tests.

"It’s a huge setback, and our cricket is at a crossroads," Wasim said.

The former pacer, who played 104 Tests for Pakistan, voiced his disbelief at the team’s inability to capitalise on promising positions during the matches.

"For a former player and captain, I was left embarrassed at the way they lost from good positions. I simply don’t get it," he added.

Wasim Akram also highlighted Pakistan cricket team's poor form at home. "We are losing consistently on home turf, and that says a lot about the quality of our cricket," he concluded.

Pakistan’s next Test series is scheduled against England, with three matches set to take place starting in October.

The latest defeat adds to Pakistan's troubling record of ten consecutive winless home Tests and compounds the team's recent struggles.

It follows Pakistan's disasterous performances in limited overs matches where the Green Shirts failed to advance past the group stages in both the 50-over and T20 World Cups over the past year.

The Test series loss to Bangladesh, coupled with recent setbacks against Afghanistan and the USA in limited-overs formats, has left the cricketing nation grappling with a crisis of confidence.
