Shraddha Kapoor just pulled off a social media coup, edging past Priyanka Chopra Jonas to snag the title of the second-most followed Indian celebrity on Instagram. And if you're wondering why your feed suddenly felt a little more Kapoor-heavy, it's because the star's follower count took a meteoric leap following the global success of her latest horror comedy flick, Stree 2, which waltzed into the INR400 million club, as per Hindustan Times.

Her Instagram post was caption-free, simply adorned with humble folding hands emojis, which, in today's emoji-driven world, probably speaks louder than words. Priyanka, ever the sport, joined in on the emoji parade by tossing in raised hands, red hearts, and fire emojis in response. Clearly, no hard feelings there—just a bit of friendly competition between Bollywood's finest.

So, what are the numbers behind this virtual victory? Shraddha now boasts 92.7 million followers, a cool 800,000 ahead of Priyanka, who sits at 91.9 million. And in case you missed the memo, Shraddha also zoomed past none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who's holding steady at 91.3 million.

Still, there's one reigning monarch of Indian Instagram, and that's Virat Kohli, with a staggering 270 million followers. But as Shraddha continues to rise, the cricket icon might just feel a tiny bit of heat. Not far behind the Kapoor-Chopra face-off, Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone are also major players in the Instagram arena, with 85.2 million and 79.9 million followers, respectively.

Meanwhile, Priyanka's got a slew of projects lined up, ensuring she stays very much in the game. First on the docket is The Bluff, where she'll trade in her red carpet heels for pirate boots in a 19th-century Caribbean adventure directed by Frank E Flowers. If that doesn't already have you hooked, she's also set to star alongside action heavyweights John Cena, Idris Elba, and Jack Quaid in Heads of State, directed by Ilya Naishuller. And let's not forget her passion project, Paani, a Marathi film about a man's fight for water self-sufficiency in a drought-stricken village. Slated for a big-screen release on October 18, Paani, produced by Priyanka and her mother's Purple Pebble Pictures, has already made waves, bagging the National Film Award for Best Film on Environment Conservation back in 2019.
