Beau DeMayo, the creator of X-Men '97, has publicly responded to his sudden firing from Marvel Studios earlier this year. DeMayo was dismissed in March 2024, just before the Disney+ premiere of the animated series, following what Marvel described as an internal investigation that revealed "egregious" findings. In response, DeMayo is sharing his side of the story through OnlyFans, a platform he had previously used during his time at Marvel.
According to Deadline,In a 30-minute video posted on OnlyFans, DeMayo denied the allegations and claimed that Marvel was attempting to smear him. He stated, “The rumors being spread around me online are lies, and they are offensive.” DeMayo further argued that the accusations were part of a concerted effort to silence him due to his identity as a "gay, Black, and open" person in the industry. According to DeMayo, Marvel's actions aimed to "crush" him and discredit his work.
DeMayo’s attorney has filed a legal complaint against Marvel, alleging that the company attempted to enforce an "illegal non-disparagement provision" in his exit package. The complaint further claims that Marvel removed DeMayo’s name from the credits of X-Men '97 Season 2 as retaliation for his outspokenness. The lawsuit also includes allegations of discriminatory treatment that DeMayo experienced during his tenure at Marvel.
Marvel has yet to release an official response to these accusations, while DeMayo continues to provide updates and share content related to the dispute on his OnlyFans account.
