Ellen DeGeneres is preparing to close the chapter on her comedy career with her last-ever stand-up special.

"Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval" is set to premiere globally on Netflix on Sept. 24, and the former talk show host confirmed that this will indeed be her final comedy special.

In it, DeGeneres will address being “kicked out of show business” following the end of her daytime talk show amid accusations of a toxic work environment.

DeGeneres herself acknowledged the public’s curiosity, saying in a statement, “To answer the questions everyone is asking me — Yes, I’m going to talk about it. Yes, this is my last special. Yes, Portia really is that pretty in real life.”

According to Netflix’s description, the special will feature DeGeneres' signature humor as she reflects on her life post-show business, her stand-up roots, and even lighter topics like raising chickens. The logline promises a blend of personal insights and comedic reflections on the "absurd realities" of life.

This marks DeGeneres' return to Netflix following her 2018 special, "Relatable." She also recently completed her stand-up tour, "Ellen’s Last Stand…Up Tour," where she addressed the controversies that surrounded the final years of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." The long-running talk show ended in May 2022 after nearly 20 years, with its conclusion overshadowed by allegations of racism, sexual misconduct, and intimidation on set.

Produced by Ben Winston and Portia de Rossi, and directed by Joel Gallen, "Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval" is expected to be a poignant conclusion to her career in comedy.
