Journalist Nisar Lehri shot dead in Mastung

Lehri, who was also the local Press Club secretary, was reportedly killed due to a land dispute.

PAKISTAN:

Senior journalist Nisar Lehri was shot dead in the GulKand area of Mastung, Balochistan, on Wednesday, police confirmed.

Lehri, who was also the Press Club secretary, was reportedly killed due to a land dispute, according to local authorities.

The president of the Press Club, Faiz Durani, has demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible. SP Mastung stated that raids are underway to apprehend the suspects.

This incident comes just weeks after the killing of another journalist, Bachal Ghuniyo, in Ghotki, Sindh.

Ghuniyo, who worked for Awaz TV, was shot dead by unidentified assailants, who fled the scene after the attack. His death was linked to an ongoing enmity, according to police reports.

In a separate incident earlier this year, journalist Nasrullah Gadani succumbed to gunshot wounds after being attacked near Mirpur Mathelo, Ghotki.

Gadani was en route to the local Press Club when armed men opened fire. He was transported to multiple hospitals for treatment, but eventually passed away in Karachi.
