Man killed, two injured for resisting robbery bids

Victim tried to overpower suspects who shot him in head

DIJKOT:

A 35-year-old man was killed and two others were injured during a robbery in the Dera Sain Qabristan area on Tuesday.

The police said Zohaib Hassan, tried to catch a robber when he heard commotion from locals. During the struggle, the robbers, fearing they would get caught, shot Hassan in the head and fled the scene.

The victim was rushed to Allied Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Upon receiving the information, SP Lyallpur Town Rana Rahman Qadir, DSP CIA Malik Tariq, DSP Gulberg, and other police officers arrived at the scene.

They took possession of the body and transferred it to the hospital.

SHO Ghulam Muhammad Abad Rai Arshad said robbers snatched Rs10,000 in cash and a mobile phone from Muhammad Bilal, a resident of Chhota Gol Chowk and fled. While Bilal was on his way to the police station to file a complaint, he recognised the robbers near New Colony School and started following them slowly on his motorcycle. As soon as he reached Dera Sain Graveyard, Bilal shouted that the robbers had committed a crime against him. During this time, the victim, Zohaib Hassan along with other locals caught the robber who then shot at him.

Meanwhile, In the Mansoorabad area, two robbers approached the owner of a petrol agency Irfan. Reportedly, the robbers snatched Rs15,000 and a mobile phone and shot Irfan when he offered resistance.

In another incident, near 25 GB in the Saddar Jaranwala area, a robber set up a roadblock and snatched Rs35,000 from Idris, who was riding a motorcycle to collect goods from Jaranwala. When Idris resisted, the robber shot him in the leg, injuring him.

The victim was transferred to the hospital for medical treatment.

According to police reports, 140 people have been injured during robberies-resistance in the city during the first eight months of this year.
