ATC extends bail of Uzma, Aleema, Omar
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday extended the interim bail of Uzma Khan and Aleema Khan, sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Omar Ayub, along with other party leaders in the Jinnah House attack case until September 14.
ATC Judge Khalid Arshad conducted proceedings on the bail applications, wherein PTI leaders including Omar Ayub, Zain Qureshi, Mussarat Jamshed Cheema, Hafiz Farhat Abbas, Azam Khan Swati and Nadeem Abbas Bara appeared as their interim bail expired.
However, the counsel for Uzma and Aleema Khan submitted applications requesting the court to exempt his clients from personal appearance for a day, which was accepted by the court.
The court also accepted similar applications of Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry.
The applicants had filed bail applications fearing arrest in the Jinnah House attack case related to the May 9 riots.
Meanwhile, an ATC canceled the bailable arrest warrants of former MNA Aliya Hamza and PTI activist Sanam Javed in the Shadman Police Station torching case.
Both women, who are on bail, appeared before ATC Judge Khalid Arshad during the proceedings of the case in Kot Lakhpat Jail.
As a result, the court canceled their arrest warrants, which had been issued due to their absence from a previous hearing.
