Charli XCX bids farewell to 'Brat' summer, shifts focus to 'Sweat' tour fall
Charli XCX has officially ended her "Brat" summer, signaling a transition to her upcoming "Sweat" tour fall. On Labor Day Monday, the pop star took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce, “Goodbye forever brat summer.”
Released on June 7, 2024, Charli XCX’s album Brat became a defining soundtrack of the summer, marked by its chartreuse-colored cover and infectious tracks. The album gained significant attention, with Rolling Stone noting that “the world had finally caught up” with Charli XCX. Songs like “Von Dutch” and “360,” featuring lyrics such as “I’m everywhere, I’m so Julia,” became summer anthems.
Charli XCX further expanded the album’s reach with notable remixes, including collaborations with Lorde on “Girl, So Confusing” and Billie Eilish on “Guess.” An expanded edition of the album, titled Brat and It’s the Same but There’s Three More Songs So It’s Not, added to its impact. Additionally, the track “Apple” inspired a popular TikTok dance challenge.
The album also intersected with political spheres, as Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign adopted the chartreuse theme of Brat for their X header following Harris’s nomination. Charli XCX supported the crossover, tweeting, “Kamala IS brat.”
With "Brat" summer coming to a close, Charli XCX is set to focus on her “Sweat” tour this fall, marking the next chapter in her evolving musical journey.
