Female constable suspended over viral video in Karachi

Federal governmenthas prohibited government employees from using social media without prior permission.

A female constable, Maria Gill, has been suspended after a video of her went viral on social media, leading to disciplinary action by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South, Syed Asad Raza.

The incident involved Maria, who is stationed at Gizri police station, recording a video on Mai Kolachi Road, which later circulated widely online.

The DIG emphasised that such irresponsible behaviour cannot be tolerated within a professional institution.

This incident follows a broader directive from the federal government, which has prohibited government employees from using social media without prior permission.

The Establishment Division has also issued an office memorandum to reinforce this policy.
