Bangladesh starts strong, aiming to whitewash Pakistan

Pakistan’s second innings ended at 172, leaving a target of 185 runs for the visitors to win.

On the final day of the second Test match, Bangladesh has scored 113 runs for the loss of two wickets, needing just 72 more runs to win. Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque are on the crease.

At the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh began the day at 42 runs without loss. However, after adding 16 more runs, Zakir Hasan was dismissed by Mir Hamza for 40 runs.

Earlier, the Pakistan team was bowled out for 172 runs in their second innings, setting a target of 185 runs for the visitors to win.

Day 4:

The national team resumed play on the fourth day with 9 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. At a total score of 47, opener Saim Ayub was caught out for 20 runs off Taskin Ahmed’s delivery. Captain Shan Masood was the next to be dismissed, scoring 28 runs with the team total at 62.

Following the captain's departure, experienced batsman Babar Azam could not make a significant impact, getting out for 11 runs. Babar has not performed well throughout the series.

Vice-captain Saud Shakeel was dismissed for 2 runs, while wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan fought hard, scoring 43 runs before being caught off Hasan Mahmud’s delivery. Mohammad Ali was dismissed for a duck with the team's total at 136.

Salman Ali Agha played aggressively, remaining unbeaten on 47 runs, while Abrar Ahmed and Mir Hamza contributed 2 and 4 runs, respectively, before being dismissed. No player from the national team managed to score a half-century.

Bangladeshi bowler Hasan Mahmud took five wickets, Nahid Rana claimed four, and Taskin Ahmed secured one wicket.

Day 3:

At the end of the third day, Pakistan had lost 2 wickets for just 9 runs in their second innings. Abdullah Shafique was out for 3 runs, and Khurram Shehzad was dismissed for a duck. The national team had a lead of 21 runs over the visitors.

Earlier, Bangladesh's team was bowled out for 262 runs in response to Pakistan's first innings total of 274.

For Pakistan, Khurram Shehzad took six wickets, while Mir Hamza and Salman Ali Agha each claimed two wickets.

On the third day, Pakistani bowlers made an impressive comeback, with Khurram Shehzad and Mir Hamza delivering aggressive bowling, dismissing Bangladesh's top six batsmen for just 26 runs.

For Bangladesh, Shadman Islam scored 10 runs, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto made 4, Mushfiqur Rahim scored 3, Shakib Al Hasan managed 2, while Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque were both dismissed for just 1 run each.

Later, Liton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz forged a 165-run partnership for the seventh wicket, helping Bangladesh recover in the match. Mehidy scored 78 runs, and Liton Das was out for 138. Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana were dismissed for 1 and 0 runs, respectively.

Khurram Shehzad took six wickets, while Mir Hamza claimed two wickets for Pakistan.

Day 2:

In the first innings, the national team lost Abdullah Shafique for a duck. However, captain Shan Masood and Saim Ayub formed a partnership of 107 runs before Shan was dismissed for 57 runs and Saim Ayub for 58.

Middle-order batsman Saud Shakeel was out for 16, while Babar Azam scored 31 runs. Wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan made 29 runs, Agha Salman scored 54, Khurram Shehzad 12, Mohammad Ali 2, and Abrar Ahmed 9 runs before being dismissed.

For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz took five wickets, Taskin Ahmed claimed three, and Shakib Al Hasan and Nahid Rana each secured one wicket.

Earlier, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and opted to field first, aiming to quickly bowl out Pakistan and take the lead.

Pakistan captain Shan Masood expressed eagerness to win the match and stated that Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah were rested, with Abrar Ahmed and Mir Hamza included in the playing eleven.

Day 1:

The first day's play between the two teams was abandoned due to continuous rain and a wet outfield, and the toss could not take place due to bad weather.
