HYDERABAD:

Despite the rain ceasing a few days ago, municipal authorities in Hyderabad have yet to fully drain the accumulated water. Many cemeteries and low-lying areas continue to be inundated, with substantial water still pooling outside the Hyderabad Railway Station. This persistent flooding is causing significant difficulties for travelers and blocking access to a nearby charitable hospital.

While some rainwater has been removed, the remaining mud has disrupted traffic flow and generated unpleasant odors. The stagnant water has also adversely affected agricultural lands in surrounding areas, leading to the premature harvesting of rice and deterioration of crops such as cotton and other grains.

Few days after the rain stopped, various major roads still have standing water. Residents, trying to address the issue themselves, removed the gutter covers to allow rainwater to drain out from the roads. However, this caused a buildup of debris like plastic bags in the sewer lines. This blockage has led to further issues with sewage accumulation on the roads and disrupted the drainage process.

Outside the Hyderabad Railway Station, water remains several feet deep, has turned black, and is emitting a foul odor. Passengers are forced to wade through the water, which is damaging vehicles and causing severe commuting difficulties. The Hyderabad Railway Station area, being Railway Department property, is legally their responsibility to manage.
