Wanted man nabbed after 16 years

LAHORE:

The Punjab Police have arrested an 'A-category' wanted accused in a murder case after 16 years.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), National Central Bureau (NCB), Interpol and immigration authorities apprehended the fugitive at Lahore airport.

According to a spokesman for the FIA, the arrest marks the end of a 16-year search for Fahad Mahmood who had been evading justice in connection with a murder case.

The proclaimed offender is accused of shooting and killing Sufyan in Gujranwala in 2008. He had escaped from the country illegally.

Fahad had obtained a Pakistani passport in Greece.

He was attempting to flee to Greece when he was intercepted by the authorities.

The murder case had been filed against him at the Gujranwala Cantt police station.

The Interpol had issued a red notice for his Fahad Mahmood's arrest. Following his capture, he was handed over to the Punjab Police by the FIA immigration authorities in Lahore.

A spokesman for the Punjab Police said that the total number of proclaimed offenders arrested from abroad this year had reached 67. He said he arrest had been made possible due to the strategy of the Special Operations Cell.
