Co-accused sent on remand in playwright case

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore has ordered a 14-day judicial remand for nine co-accused involved in the kidnapping for ransom of playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar.

The co-accused, associated with Amina Aruj, were presented before the court, where the IO informed the judge that further physical remand was not required.

Subsequently, the court ordered their detention for 14 days. As per the FIR, the suspects allegedly robbed Qamar of his mobile phone, watch, cash, and transferred Rs250,000 from his ATM card. After the robbery, the kidnappers blindfolded him and abandoned him in a deserted area before escaping.
