Concerns raised over bid to distort history of Indus Valley

Writers and poets have voiced concerns over alleged attempts to distort the centuries-old civilisation and history of the Indus Valley through false naratives.

These sentiments were expressed during the launch of the book "Growth of Indus Society's Civilisation," authored by eminent writer Ruk Sindhi, held at the Qasimabad Business Forum Hall on Sunday.

Presiding over the ceremony, Prof Dr Qazi Khadim emphasised the vastness of the history of Indus Valley sites, which he noted requires further exploration. He praised the author's commitment to preserving this history. Ruk Sindhi spoke about the challenges he faced in completing such a significant literary work within the stipulated time. He stated that he has been dedicated to researching the history of Sindh for the past 30 years, and the recognition of his work is a source of pride for him. Writer Taj Joyo commended Ruk Sindhi's deep interest in documenting the history of Sindh, stressing that encouraging literary work by authors is essential to preserving the legacy of the Indus society.

Prof Syed Azhar Ali Shah highlighted the importance of Sindhu society as a subject of scientific research, noting that the author has referenced civilisations from around the world in his book.

Nationalist leader Hashim Kosi remarked that history serves as the memory of nations and emphasised that the waters of the Indus River are the source of life.

Other speakers, including story writer Abbas Korejo, researcher Shahnawaz Mahesar, and several others, shared their thoughts on the significance of the book.
