The highly anticipated Broadway production of The Roommate, starring Mia Farrow and Patti LuPone, began previews at the Booth Theatre on August 29, 2024. Directed by Jack O'Brien, the new comedy by Jen Silverman explores themes of identity, morality, and reinvention through the story of two unlikely roommates.

Farrow, returning to Broadway for the first time since her brief stint in Love Letters in 2014, plays Sharon, a character who has never had a roommate before. LuPone, a three-time Tony Award winner, stars as Robyn, the new roommate who challenges Sharon to step out of her comfort zone. The show is set to officially open on September 12 and will run through December 15.

The production is supported by an acclaimed creative team, including scenic and costume design by Bob Crowley, lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound design by Mikaal Sulaiman, and original music by David Yazbek. The play also features movement direction by Simone Sault and hair, wig, and make-up design by Robert Pickens and Katie Gell.

The Roommate initially premiered at the 2015 Humana Festival of New American Plays at Actors Theatre of Louisville and was later produced at Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2017. The Broadway production offers $35 tickets through a digital lottery at Rush.Telecharge.com, with $30 rush tickets available for same-day purchase.

As anticipation builds for the opening night, Farrow and LuPone are already making headlines with their performances, promising a compelling and dynamic portrayal of Silverman’s characters.
