Pakistan’s Ahsan Ayaz advances to Colleyville Open squash final

Ayaz’s stunning comeback in the semi-final secures his place in the Colleyville Open final.

Pakistan's Ahsan Ayaz has advanced to the final of the Colleyville Open Squash tournament after a dramatic semi-final win.

In a gripping match, Ayaz overcame Malaysia’s Yi Zhiayi Siu with a 2-3 victory. Despite trailing 0-2, Ayaz mounted a stunning comeback, securing the win with scores of 11-8, 11-2, 10-12, 6-11, and 9-11.

Earlier, Ayaz triumphed over Ireland's Dennis Gilewski in the quarter-finals with a 1-3 result.

Having received a bye in the first round, Ayaz also defeated the USA’s Philip Pentel in his second-round match.

The Colleyville Open, held in Texas, features a total prize pool of $3,000.

Hailing from Peshawar, Ayaz has secured the national junior championship title 25 times across various age categories.

Internationally, he has won several prestigious tournaments, including the PSA Malaysian Tour-4 Championship and the PSA ISAM Pro-Open trophy in California.

In 2016, he was also crowned the world junior squash champion.
