LG minister prioritises drainage, infrastructure repair after rains
Sindh's Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani has emphasised that drainage is the top priority following the recent rains, and efforts to clear drainage systems in all areas of Karachi will be completed soon.
During his visit to the ongoing work on the 24-inch sewer line collapse at Liberty Chowk, Tariq Road, and various areas of District East, Ghani commended the tireless efforts of KMC staff, town officials, and elected representatives in providing relief to citizens.
Ghani was briefed by SE Water Board Ejaz Ahmed about the progress on the sewage line repair, which had collapsed due to the recent rains. Ahmed assured that the replacement work would be completed by the end of the day. Ghani responded, "Once the line is repaired, sewage flow should resume immediately. We must ensure that the public faces no inconvenience. The timely actions taken by the administration of all towns in the city after the rains are satisfactory, with water drainage work almost complete in all areas."
Ghani then visited various areas of District East, reviewing the post-rain situation in different Union Councils of Safoora Town. He instructed relevant authorities to address water drainage issues in affected areas and ensure prompt commencement of drainage work. Acknowledging the impact of rains on road infrastructure, Ghani emphasised that drainage and cleanliness are the immediate priorities. He assured that infrastructure repair work would begin as soon as the rainy season ends.
