Kartarpur pilgrims to receive dates in 'Prasad'
The pilgrims coming to Sri Darbar Sahib Kartarpur will be given dates and other fruits from the garden of Baba Guru Nanak as 'Prasad' on their arrival.
Additionally, on September 21, the 485th death anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, a statue of his Muslim companion Bhai Mardana will be installed in Bhai Ajita Ji Bazaar.
According to officials, there are palm and mango trees, as well as guava, orange and sweet lime plants in the garden adjacent to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur.
The Kartarpur Project Management Unit (PMU) has decided to offer dates and other fruits as sacred offering to the Indian pilgrims who come to the Gurdwara via the Kartarpur Corridor.
PMU Deputy Secretary (Management) Saifullah Khokhar told The Express Tribune that in the vicinity of the gurdwara, trees of dates, mangoes, oranges, sweet limes and guavas had been planted in the 'Baba Ji De Bagh'. The fruit harvested from these trees will be given to the pilgrims as Prasad. For the Langar which is prepared for the pilgrims in Gurdwara Sahib, vegetables, wheat and rice are also cultivated on the 64 acre area attributed to Baba Guru Nanakji, he added. Khokhar said that on September 21, a statue of Bhai Mardana will be installed near the Gurdwara Sahib in the Bhai Ajita Ji Bazaar.
