Madeline Gaudreau, the wife of Matthew Gaudreau—who tragically lost his life in a biking accident with his brother, Johnny, on Thursday—is expecting their first child.
On Friday, Madeline’s sister, Holland Korbitz, created a GoFundMe campaign to assist her and their unborn baby, expressing the family's profound sorrow.
“In this unimaginably difficult time, we are coming together to support Matthew’s wife, Madeline and their growing baby Tripp, and help alleviate some of the financial burdens they now face,” she penned on the fundraising page.
“Your support will allow them the time to take off work to grieve and heal as a family.”
By Friday evening, the campaign had raised over $150,000 for Madeline and Tripp.
Additionally, a baby registry for Tripp is available on Babylist.
Both the registry and Korbitz have confirmed that Tripp’s expected due date is in December.
Though Madeline’s social media is private, a photo on Katie Gaudreau’s Instagram page shows her holding her growing belly.
Katie, the sister of Matthew and Johnny, had her wedding planned for Friday, but it was canceled due to the tragic deaths of her brothers.
Matthew and Johnny were killed on Thursday night when a suspected drunk driver hit them with his Jeep while they were biking along County Route 551 in Salem County, N.J.
The driver, Sean M. Higgins, has been taken into police custody and charged with two counts of vehicular homicide.
According to an affidavit from a New Jersey state trooper, Higgins admitted to drinking five to six beers before driving.
