Audio leak uncovers alleged plan to assassinate Lahore cop
The police have registered a case against notorious criminals Teefi Butt and Goggi Butt at the Ichra Police Station, following the leak of an audio recording allegedly linking them to a murder conspiracy involving Sub-Inspector (SI) Shakeel Butt.
The complaint was filed by SI Shakeel Butt himself, accusing the two of plotting to kill him in collaboration with Ahsan Shah.
According to the FIR, the audio recording, which purportedly captures a conversation between Shah, Teefi Butt, and Goggi Butt, reveals a detailed plan to assassinate Sub-Inspector Butt.
The plot, as outlined in the recording, suggests that Shah, currently incarcerated, orchestrated the scheme with the help of the Butts.
The FIR also connects this conspiracy to the murder of Amir Balaj Tipu, alleging that Goggi Butt and Teefi Butt were behind the killing, using Shah as an intermediary.
Sub-Inspector Butt has reported receiving direct threats from the accused, which he believes are related to his investigation into Tipu's murder. The charges filed under the FIR include sections related to threats, conspiracy, and violations of the Telegraph Act.
The leaked audio allegedly records a phone call made by Shah from prison, during which he discussed the plan to eliminate SI Butt before leaving the country. Shah reportedly told a female acquaintance, believed to be his wife, about his need to "take care of" the officer who arrested him.
The recording suggests that Shah had arranged for a shooter from within the prison to carry out the murder.
The identity of the female in the conversation has not been disclosed, but she is said to have asked for the name of the officer, to which Shah responded that the officer was a friend of her father from Badami Bagh.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Organised Crime Unit, Imran Kishor, has confirmed the existence of the audio recording, which will be subjected to forensic examination to verify its authenticity.
