Child Protection Commission, UoP sign MoU on training

Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa Child Protection and Welfare Commission and University of Peshawar (UoP) have signed a memorandum of understanding to build synergy for the nascent regional child protection units and help cementing in-service training for child protection officers and social case officers across the province.

The MoU was signed by the acting vice chancellor Prof Dr. Muhammad NaeemQazi and Chief CPWC Ijaz Khan.

Speaking on the ocassion, Ijaz said that agreement will go a long way to implement Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur's vision to enlarge child protection unit to offer services from a divisonal to a regional child protection institution.

This is a paradigm shift that will offer in-service capacity building to child protection officers and social case officers in 21 districts, he stressed. He added that street and runaway children and menace of child abuse could be addressed through such sound policy frameworks.

The vice chancellor UoP congratulated Unicef, Social Work and CPWC to forge an alliance for helping students, curriculum, child welfare and protection through academic linkages and exposures. He stressed on three partners to work in unison for two years for ending child exploitation and plight.

Sohail Ahmad child protection specialist from Unicef, stressed that agency is working to bid for acquiring professional services from Bradford University to streamline child protection services and policies in the province.

Dr. Shakil Ahmad while sharing his thoughts said that this understanding will solve HR issues for commission and Univesity alike. He thanked Commission for involving academia in district child protection committees.

Director P& D Professor Bushra khan term this agreement to be fruitful for final year students to acquire hands-on training and understanding real world social problems.
