‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’ to premiere in October, Disney confirms

Disney Channel's sequel to "Wizards of Waverly Place" will debut on October 29, with new episodes weekly on Fridays.

The highly anticipated sequel series, “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” is set to premiere on Disney Channel this October. 

This continuation of the beloved original series, “Wizards of Waverly Place,” will begin with a two-episode premiere on October 29 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Following the network debut, the first eight episodes will be available for streaming on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand the next day.

On October 30, two more episodes, including a Halloween-themed special, will air back-to-back. Starting November 8, new episodes will shift to a regular Friday slot at 8:00 p.m. ET, with two episodes released each week.

Notably, the first season will see episodes directed by Raven-Symoné, known for “Raven’s Home,” and Danielle Fishel, of “Girl Meets World” fame.

The series, as described in its logline, "follows an adult Justin Russo (David Henrie), who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman, and Milo. 

When Justin’s sister Alex (Selena Gomez) brings Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities — and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World."

The cast includes David Henrie, Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, Max Matenko, Taylor Cora, and Mimi Gianopulos, with Selena Gomez guest-starring in the first episode. Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas serve as writers and executive producers, with additional executive production from Gary Marsh, Jonas Agin, Gomez, and Henrie. The pilot was directed by Andy Fickman, who will also direct multiple episodes.

Gomez recently shared with Variety’s Marc Malkin her excitement about returning to the series, stating, "It felt like I was home again. I’m so happy I got to bring back this childhood gift that I was given to new little ones out there."
