Emma Roberts has expressed her excitement about potentially portraying Britney Spears in a film adaptation of Spears' memoir, "The Woman In Me." The suggestion for Roberts to take on the role came from Spears' longtime assistant, Felicia Culotta, who cited the actress's background in child stardom as a parallel to Spears' own early career. In an interview with Cosmo, Roberts revealed that playing Spears has been a dream of hers for over two decades, saying, "It’s my true dream to play Britney Spears."

The film adaptation of Spears' memoir has been the subject of significant interest since the book's debut at the top of the New York Times best-sellers list. Universal Studios won a bidding war for the rights to the project, with Jon M. Chu set to direct. The memoir covers Spears' upbringing, rise to fame, and experiences during her 2008 conservatorship.

Roberts shared that she has been preparing for such a role since she was a child, even memorizing Spears' songs. "I remember I locked myself in my room and listened to In the Zone and said, ‘I cannot leave this room until I memorize every word,'" Roberts told Cosmo.

Culotta also suggested Timothée Chalamet for the role of Justin Timberlake and Drew Barrymore as herself. The anticipation for the film continues to grow, especially with Roberts’ enthusiasm fueling further speculation.
