IHC grants police one week to recover Imran Khan's former security chief
The Islamabad High Court has instructed police to recover Umar Sultan, the former security in-charge of PTI founder Imran Khan, in one week.
The court directed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khan Zaib Khan to personally oversee the investigation and report back to the court.
The hearing, presided over by Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, over a petition seeking the recovery of Umar Sultan.
During the hearing, SSP Zaib confirmed the existence of CCTV footage, which is currently under review as part of the ongoing investigation.
Previously, summons were issued by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq following a petition filed by Sultan Javed, the father of Umar Sultan.
Javed alleged that his son was unlawfully detained without a warrant on 26th August.
The court has directed the police officials to appear and provide details regarding the detention.
Chief Justice Farooq emphasised the significance of police leading the investigation and urged the petitioner's lawyer to provide any relevant information to the police.
The judge also advised coordination between the parties to ensure that all findings are communicated to the SSP.
The hearing on the recovery petition has been adjourned until next week, with the court expected to decide the next steps based on the roster of judges available on Monday.
