ISLAMABAD:

Federal Minister for Power, Sardar Awais Ahmad Leghari, reaffirmed the government's commitment to lowering electricity tariffs within the next year. Speaking to a private news channel, he assured that significant progress has been made in addressing critical power sector issues and that consumers will soon benefit from more affordable electricity.

Leghari emphasised the government's dedication to making electricity accessible to all, highlighting the formation of a committee to facilitate the transition of three IPPs to indigenous Thar coal. This shift is expected to reduce electricity costs and lessen reliance on imported coal. The government aims to create a sustainable energy mix by leveraging Thar coal, leading to lower tariffs and a more stable power supply.
