Curry secures $62.6m extension, staying with Warriors until 2027
Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has agreed to a one-year contract extension worth $62.6 million, keeping him with the team through the 2026-2027 season., according to reports on Thursday.
By the end of the contract, Curry will be 39 years old. The extension was confirmed by Curry's agent, Jeff Austin, as reported by ESPN.
Curry, who is nearly 36, is already one of the NBA's oldest players, with only LeBron James, who turns 40 in December, being older. He initially signed a four-year, $215.4 million deal in August 2021, which had two years remaining. Due to the "over-38 rule" in the collective bargaining agreement, Curry was only eligible for a one-year extension as he will turn 38 before the contract ends in March 2026.
A 10-time All-Star and four-time NBA champion, Curry is also a two-time scoring leader. In the 2023-2024 season, his 15th with Golden State, he averaged 26.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.5 rebounds across 74 games.
Curry holds the NBA record for 3-point field goals made (3,747) and is the Warriors' all-time leader in points (23,668), assists (6,119), steals (1,473), and games played (956).
Curry led the Warriors to four NBA championships in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022, and also helped Team USA win a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. This summer, the Warriors parted ways with one of their key players, Klay Thompson, who will join Luka Doncic's Dallas Mavericks for the next season.
